Felice Avian: expectation

Children watch the skies every year, not for nuclear bombs/alien invasions like they did after 1951’s ‘Thing from Another World,’ but for reindeer/Santa.

I Still Believe” is a homegrown folk ballad from PST. Earnestly overlong, but so is waiting on 12/24.

Martin Black uses syncopated country to silly effect with the kidsong “Fly Away Little Reindeer.” Oddly, this time the spotted reindeer is shooed into the sky. Which messes up this kid for life.

Felice Avian: acceptation

After we’re used to Santa up above, we at times feel little about this miracle. Or perhaps angst for all that could wrong from on high.

The Withers embody a naughty child who don’t want “Reindeer” to fly, they’ll pass him by. Beatles parody. (Their “Reindeer of Castemere” is not as successful, but certainly a downer.)

Santa was Seen Flying through Soviet Airspace” is The Philistines Jr. tribute to trouble. Russianistic experimental pop. In other words, –what?!

Felice Avian: observation

Older kids take the aerial Santa a bit more matter-of-factly. Oh look. Guess it’s Xmas, or something.

Bill Edwards burns the honky tonk up with “Santa’s Gonna Fly.” No reindeer. Just that time of year.

Fun rocking pop from Todd McHatton gets “Santa Flying in Your Sleigh.” Can’t recall if any animals get credit, though.

Nostalgic kidsong thumpity thumps out “Santa Claus is Flying through the Sky.” The Audition Studio Orchestra doesn’t quite put you to sleep with this look-see.

Finally including the rangifer, Syrpyntyne posts a fine ‘Rocket Man’ parody that seems to kvetch about flight, but strolls through the routine like it’s no big deal. “Reindeer Man” is Santa, by the way. (While we’re at it, their “Rocky Mountain Sleigh” needs an ear. Excellent.)

More trademark friendly, the parody “The Reindeer Song” from Nick Mitchell nonchalantly acknowledges the flying herd. Every child knows. Not really headlines.

Felice Avian: affirmation

Birds do it, bees do it, even Santa’s reindeer do it–let’s crow about flying skills.

KCENT gets Kpop about it with “Fly X-Mas.” Party hearty. Foreign languages may apply.

Kidsong likes to weak the language at times to catch the eavesdropping adults unawares, so when Rockin’ Robin & The Magical Tree folk rock “Christmas Time Flies” they mean the metaphorical flight (though the reindeer are included in a simile for the slowpokes). But it’s all carpe diem celebratory.

Today’s dance party tune also neglects actual animals, but Sujo’s “Fly Fly Christmas” is a dance floor filler–or at least repetitive lyric syndrome.

Felice Avian: sensation

Those flying hatracks are really something, i tells you. Impressive doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Santa gets all the credit in Air Mack’s garage “Flying Santa.” With exclamation points.

Local Business Comedy gets a replay with their Platten parody “Flight Song.” It makes me sit up straighter, prouder just introducing it.

Barnes and Barnes return to scratch your ears with their ‘bad’ music “I am a Flying Reindeer.” You wish you were them. So stand back, mortal.

Felice Avian: inspiration

Maybe all those reindeer need to take a step up is a bit of encouragement. Santa does call ’em out, after all.

Eclectic Blonde chants “Fly Santa Fly” as a child in a letter she finds in the attic. Cheerleading done to country pop, but the guitar through line is pretty catchy. Nana nana nana.

The Reindeer” are reminded how good they are in the Withers parody. I think the snowmen are telling them… not sure.

Watch Out for Rockets knows how to command with the driving music power rock of “Fly Reindeer Fly.” Lift off!

Felice Avian: determination

The magic of Xmas reindeer flight is a matter of faith. You believe in it. (Or not, but who needs that? That was yesterday.)

Cosy Sheridan has some light folk rock proselytization “The Night the Reindeer Fly.” Those aeronauts are matter of fact background for the amazing night of holiday celebration.

Sharon Gudereit teases the imagination of you old realists in “Where the Reindeer Fly,” a new age symphonic examination of childlike conviction. A bit ponderous for a flight of fancy, but pretty pipes.

Felice Avian: hesitation

Some ask questions about the flying sleigh ‘cuz they’re big fat doubters. They’re not going to believe any of your mumbo jolliness.

Even though Arne Hansen & The Guitarspellers saw how “Reindeer Can Fly” themselves, they still question. the physics and natural science of it all. It can’t be… seeing is not believing… they even swear slightly. Driving pop.

Jan Farley hits novelty country kid music in the face with “How Do Reindeer Fly?” Keep scratching that itch, it’ll never heal.

Felice Avian: explanation

How do Santa’s reindeer fly? How do you ask so many questions!

The Withers step all over Burt Bacharach wonderin’ how those “Reindeer Keep Flying” overhead. But it’s not worrying them.

What Makes the Reindeer Fly” asks Ryan Rasmussen with a little soft shoe accompaniment. He says magic, but i’m guessing drugs: the grass tastes like popsicles?!?

Strawberry Traffic Jam double barrels the questions from the little one to Daddy in “How Do Reindeer Really Fly?” The kidsong goes for more than the high hoofers, but overwhelms with childlike curiosity. Or is it annoys? (Dad’s answer: wait ’til you’re older.) (Really.)

Oompah pop from Anacapa digs deeper with “How Do Reindeer Really Fly.” The blues-tinged diva vocals compel us to actually wonder– and tap our toes.
